Au! is the title of my new photo book on the Surinamese jungle. For my new book I spent 3 months in Surinam's interior, photographing the lives of the marroons, indians and gold prospector's.
The book documents not only the beauty and serenity of this peaceful place. It also shows how this fragile and vulnerable environment is being threatened by the activities of the gold miners, who use vast quantities of mercury to extract the gold.
